Family Emergency Fund

Young Voices of Austin celebrates the rich diversity of our city’s youth. By supporting the musical, academic, and personal achievements of our choristers, YVA provides a high-quality, community-based afterschool experience for young people ages 6 to 18.  73% of our choristers are on full or partial scholarships. YVA’s Board and Staff are dedicated to raising scholarship funds each year and are passionate in our belief that no student should be turned away due to their inability to pay.

All 43 choristers enrolled in our recently suspended program and their families are, thankfully, safe and healthy. Some of our families, however, are among those hardest hit by COVID-19 related job loss and resulting food insecurity. We have decided to set up an Emergency Fund to support them during this crisis.

If you are in a position to do so, please consider donating to Young Voices of Austin’s Family Emergency Fund. The Fund will provide immediate financial assistance to students and families experiencing an unexpected hardship due to COVID-19:

YVA’s Family Emergency fund may be used to:
● Make up for lost income
● Purchase groceries
● Pay for rent, mortgage, and utilities
● Purchase necessary medications
● Access remote learning tools
● Cover other vital expenses

While we cannot coordinate direct donations, we would also be happy to collect non-perishable foods, H-E-B, or other market gift cards and books/children’s supplies for distribution to families in need. Please email diana@youngvoicesofausin.org.

All funds raised will be used for the benefit of families who need assistance. This is not a fundraiser for our program. For more information on Young Voices of Austin, please refer to our website: www.yva.org

On behalf of all 43 Young Voices of Austin, we thank you for your generosity and support of our families.
